Many times i come across situations were I want to lash out at people, I want to screem and say 'what is wrong with you?' or 'what did you do that for?'. Ever feel that way? Yes, I am sure we all do from time to time as we live in a world were people get emotional, have their own opinions, and have no trouble beating other up with them. So what do we do when we come across people that would like to tear us down instead of build us up? Jesus said 'come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and i will give you rest'. So, when I find that some one has come against me unjustly my first human reaction is to lash out, to get MY justice for the matter..and more times then I care to think about I have done just that. But, this is what happens when we walk in the flesh...when we allow sin to creep in and give us thoughts we dont need and should not have. Thoughts like..'what the hell is wrong with that person, I will show them'...or 'if you want to be that way then 2 can play that game'. Everything starts in our thoughts an if we allow it to progress it WILL become our actions. And one word of warning, thoughts CAN and DO progress in a matter of seconds!
So how do we learn to stay in step with the Spirit even when we feel like walking in the flesh? For me, prayer is key and talking with good godly people that will also lift me in prayer. I can not change a bad habit on my own, but God can and will change me if I am willing to let Him into that habit and give Him the control. For me that means praying and talking to God when thing come up the moment I need to know what to do. Instead of reacting to the situation I need to simply ACT by going to God. That does not mean I have this down pat, God knows I dont...but I want to and my hearts desire is to live my life in such a way to please Him and be a good witness of Christ in me. Having good godly people in my life has made a wonderful differance also because then when i am faced with the ungodly people I have backup. And it works both ways, they also know that they can come to me when they are in need as well and I will pray for them. This was some food for thought tonight as i was faced with a situation that I did not responde the way I should have, But God brought me to a place of listening through it and in turn writing...He can use anything for His glory if we will let Him.
Hugs and love,
