Consistancy in battle

It seems that the moment I open my eyes in the morning the devil is after my mind. If he can get into my thoughts and start to persuade me in the negative he can hook me all day long. That is UNLESS I make the choice to be renewed in my mind by the washing of the water of the Word! The devil knows exactly were my weaknesses are and what to tell me to set me on the path of negativity and destruction, to keep me focused on circumstances, situations, people and things. So when I wake up in the morning I have a choice to make before I even get out of bed. Who will I listen to this day? Will I listen to the devil and his lies or will I let God speak to me and renew my mind in His truths, His love and His encouragement for my day? Will I allow God to be my all in all and to have Lordship over my life? The choice seems so obvious to us as believers in Christ, but how many of us struggle daily just to keep our heads above the waters of life?
My Lord gave me a word this evening to think on, meditate on and place in my heart. That one word is simple but packs so much strength! CONSISTENCY! Being consistent in my relationship with Him. The devil knows that if we are not consistent in our relationship with God we will also not be consistent in our strength to withstand his attacks on us. So he will do all he can to distract us from our time with God, praying for others, reading the Word, fellowshiping, church..all the things that keep us in tune with God and His people. The things that help us to stand strong when the devil comes at us with negativity, we have to remember that the devil tears down but God builds up. God is not going to bombard us with negative thoughts or ask us to do anything that will hurt ourselves or others. God will ask us to help those in need, reach out with His love and take the hands of those around us with the heart of Jesus leading the way. So when I think of the word consistency I think on my daily routines. What do I do when I wake up? Do I sit on the edge of my bed and pray inviting my Lord to be in my day, to take control of all aspects of my life and to be Lord of all this day..to lead and guide me and to show me how I can serve Him for His glory? Or, do I immediatly start to think on my problems or the hurts of my heart. Well thats a choice I have to make everyday isnt it. Now comes the hard part, its easy to pray and read the Word and fellowship when I feel like it. But what about the times I may not feel like it, maybe I am feeling discouraged or ill...maybe I just dont want to read the Word today..what about those times? It takes 21 days to develop a new habit I am told and at least that much to break an old one. Staying consistent even when I dont feel like it will build strength in me and it will become easier over time to have those quiet times with God and to read the Word with understanding and grace. Consistency will develop into desire and love and that will feed the spirit, soul, mind and body. God has promised us that if we draw nigh to Him He will draw nigh to us as well. Being consistent in our time with Him builds a relationship with Him that nothing can come between. Being rooted and grounded in His Word will provide the basis for living a life of godliness and integrity, through the power of His Holy Spirit. Nothing can compare to a life of consistency in Him.

Lord help me to be consistent in you, to meet with you daily and to be rooted and grounded in your Word. Help me to keep you at the forefront of my mind and let the truth of your Word reign in my heart. Thank you Jesus for being Lord of my life. Amen
